Having grown up in Hamilton, New Zealand, the power forward said he came to Perth for the opportunities and lifestyle and was looking forward to joining the Eagles.

‘I’m looking forward to being part of a winning team and individually I’m wanting to challenge myself in the SBL environment,’ he said.

‘Personally it’s been a couple years since I have been in a competitive basketball environment and it’s something I’ve missed a lot and I’m genuinely excited about the opportunity to suit up for the club and will be doing my best to play a contributing role for a winning team.’

Coach Adam Forde said he was excited to have Jamie on board this year after hearing good things from former assistant coach Matt Muir and having him down during preseason.

‘Jamie will be a great addition to the group, especially when we are missing Tom Jervis for those first few weeks in the season,’ he said.

‘He is a strong athletic forward that can mix it up inside the paint and will extend the defence with is midrange shot.

‘He hasn’t played competitive basketball for a few years, but with each week you see him improving on the court and getting his touch.’

Forde said he did not need Jamie to make an immediate impact but to steadily build his confidence as he found his place in the team.
