NORANDA City Football Club Under 14s are the Top 4 Finals Series winners after beating Balga FC last month and are also the league champions for the second consecutive year.
Coach Brandon Payne, who moved from Balcatta FC in 2014, said winning the premiership was vindication for a lot of hard work.
“Winning the Top 4 Cup was also redemption after we lost in the final on penalties in 2014. It was really special to see the boys celebrate after seeing tears the year before,” he said.
Payne said the boys were a committed group with training starting in November so they can be fully prepared for the season ahead.
“It’s a long preseason, but all the hard work has paid off in both years,” he said.
Payne said he trained all the boys equally despite two players having to play through extra diversities with Sandro La Verghetta living with cerebral palsy and Xavier Payne, his son, diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
