PERTH Soccer Club moved to the top of the National Premier Leagues WA (NPL) on goal difference with a 2-0 win over Stirling Lions at Macedonia Park on Saturday.

Goals from Nicholas Ambrogio and Gustavo Catarcione in the opening 20 minutes got Perth off to a flying start and they never looked back in a fixture dedicated to the late Dylan Tombides.

Stirling threatened briefly before the break but the visitors remained resolute throughout and were comfortable in recording a third win in as many matches.

Perth midfielder Dean Evans said it was important his side came out of the blocks quickly.

“We spoke about starting quickly at training and we did that, which put us in the box seat,” he said.

“It was a good start and put us in good stead. We defended really well as a team and made it difficult for them to create many chances.”

Inglewood United also extended their impressive start to the season with a 1-0 win over a youthful Perth Glory.

Floreat Athena striker Lewis McMahon bagged a hat-trick on his return to the NPL to help his side to a 4-3 win against Armadale at Alfred Skeet Reserve.

Balcatta earned their first point of the season with a 1-1 draw against 10-man Sorrento at Percy Doyle Reserve, while Bayswater City managed to seal three points against Cockburn City courtesy of a 3-1 win at Dalmatinac Park.

ECU Joondalup put on a five-star show to down Subiaco 5-2 at ECU Joondalup Stadium.
