Perth high jumper reaches new heights

ELLENBROOK high jumper Jordan Wight is eyeing more success after winning gold at the recent 2019 Oceania Area Championships.

Wight, who trains at the WA Athletics Stadium in Mt Claremont, finished first with an equal personal best of 2.05m at the championships held in Townsville.

He said it was satisfying to win the gold medal.

“It was really cool to jump against the best jumpers in the Oceania area and making some new friends along the way,” he said.

“I’m now preparing for the nationals championships in March 2020.

“My goal is to win a the national title and also qualify for the world under-20 championships in Nairobi next year.”

Wight was also recently selected to train for with East Perth Football Club’s colts side in 2020.

He said would continue to do both athletics and football in the near future.
