BAYSWATER-MORLEY goes into the Premier Cricket Christmas break in 10th after falling short against Fremantle in their round eight match at Stevens Reserve on Saturday.
The Bears resumed at 4-51 in pursuit of Fremantle’s 237 and pushed the top two sides all the way in a tight contest.
Robbie Guy (71) and Grant Thistle (39) put together an 88-run eighth wicket partnership which threatened to lead the side to an unexpected win.
However, Thistle was caught by Chris Wood off Ross Macauley before the final two wickets fell in quick succession to be all out for 193.
Bayswater-Morley bowled 30 overs late in the day with Fremantle finishing 1-132.
Ashley Jeffrey took the Bears’ only wicket and finished with 1-24 from six overs.
In Sunday’s Premier Cricket T20 quarter-finals, Bayswater-Morley lost to Claremont-Nedlands at Iluka Sports Complex.
The Bears made 5-134 led by Guy’s unbeaten 36 but the Tigers cruised to an eight-wicket victory in reply with 19 balls to spare.
