Roller derby: Mistresses of Mayhem and Bloody Sundaes to contest in Perth Roller Derby grand final in Mirrabooka

LEADING Perth Roller Derby teams Mistresses of Mayhem and Bloody Sundaes will face off in the 10th Perth Roller Derby grand final in Mirrabooka this weekend.

The teams will battle for the 2018 title at Herb Graham Recreation Centre on November 17.

Roller derby is a full-contact sport played by two teams of five members skating counter-clockwise around a track.

Some of the skaters competing were members from the West Coast Evils, who won the international Mayday Mayhem title in Colorado in May.

Skater Jenelle Browning said roller derby was like “rugby on wheels”.

“People should come for the sick tricks and dance moves and stay to be rolled over by the sheer skill of some remarkable athletes,” she said.

Perth Roller Derby is running Learn to Skate classes on Monday nights at Morley Rollerdrome.
