PERTH Bayswater collected its second victory of the season with an 18-13 win over Joondalup at Pat O’Hara Reserve in front of a strong home crowd.
Baysie opened the scoring in the first half establishing the tempo early, followed by a try midway through the second half to take a commanding 15-3 lead heading into halftime.
The Numbats continued their strong display through the second half, but allowed Joondalup to score the opening try of the stanza.
However, the home side was able to take control and extend their lead to take home the four points.
Perth Bayswater head coach Damien Wainohu said he was happy with his side’s ability to hold their systems.
“Both sides played a great game,” he said.
“Joondalup put up a really good display, but I was happy with our boys’ ability to hold their systems and ultimately come away with it.
“Benji Keenan played a great game for us, he really stepped up when we needed him to.”
The win sees Baysie leapfrog Joondalup into eighth position on the ladder.
