EAST Perth Eagles’ men’s team notched a win and a loss against Joondalup Wolves and Perth Redbacks in the State Basketball League (SBL) at the weekend.
On Friday, the Eagles fell to the Redbacks 96-83 before hosting the undefeated Wolves at Morley Sport and Recreation Centre on Saturday.
Eagles player Kevin Davis starred in the team’s eight point win against his old side by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds, two blocked shots and two assists during 35 minutes of court time.
Mason Bragg also delivered a strong performance with 23 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists while Drew Williamson contributed 20 points, five boards, four assists and three steals.
Dennis Tawhiti scored 12 points and five rebounds while Kevin Anthony recorded 10 points.
Meanwhile, the women’s team suffered two losses against the Redbacks and Wolves.
The Eagles lost to the Redbacks 72-56 on Friday, with Eryn Fisher delivering a strong performance with 11 points and four rebounds.
Brianna Fisher and Jodee Sontay finished on 10 points.
Elainah Coffin also scored 10 points along with eight boards, five assists and two steals.
In the second game of the round 4, the Wolves continued their unbeaten start to the SBL season defeating the Eagles 80-62 on Saturday night.
Eryn Fisher again top-scored for East Perth with 16 points, five steals and four rebounds.
Haylee DeSousa added 13 points for the Eagles while Brianna contributed eight points and Nicole Jorre St Jorre scored seven points.
Coach Narelle Henry said her team worked hard to stay within reach in both games for three quarters.
“The team is developing well, and with bringing in our imports in the next couple of weeks the feels the results will be turned around when we meet both teams again,” she said.
Both men’s and women’s teams will play the Willetton Tigers in Willetton on Thursday.
