REIGNING premiers Bayswater City are looking to “step up” against Joondalup United on Friday night, in a bid to build on its lead at the top of the ladder.

City will play the bottom-placed United at Percy Doyle Reserve in round 15 of the National Premier League WA.

Coach Chris Coyne said his players have prepared very well for a “tough” game against United.

“The players were honest enough to admit that even though we got the result against Balcatta we didn’t perform well and they are really looking to step up on Friday night,” he said.

“There are no new injury concerns and the only potential change is the inclusion of (Brent) Griffiths and (Jason) Mirco into the squad.”

Coyne said United have been improving and were unlucky to get a result in recent weeks.

“Joondalup has been a side that has been in good form of late and we know that the team at Joondalup will give 100 per cent from start to finish, so we wish show them the respect they deserve and go out to achieve our goals,” he said.

City are sitting three points clear at the top of the ladder with 11 rounds to go.

Coyne said the club had managed the players and expectations well.

“Even though it is nice to be three points clear, with 11 games to go and 33 points to play for we are along way from home and we need to keep working hard to maintain our position on top,” he said.
