NORTHERN Stars emerged the victors of the inaugural Ultimate Ice Hockey Championships (UIHC) series with a three-game winning streak, including the final.

The Stars dominated the series over the Southern Suns with a three-point win in round 1, a five-point lead in round two and a final score of four to two in the game on Saturday.

Daniel Gorannsson (North) received the series’ most valuable player award, with most creative shootout going to Kaden Goulds (South).

North’s coach Rick Cooper received the coach’s award.

UIHC director John Caputo said plans were already underway for next year’s series.

“Next year we will have a draft and we hope to secure international players from Europe and America,” he said.

He said money raised this year went towards Teen Challenge with plans to donate to Princess Margaret Hospital next year.
