SWAN Districts Women’s Football Club will buy new playing uniforms and equipment ahead of the 2018 season after it received a $4000 grant.

Racing and Wagering WA awarded the club a community grant this month.

Captain and V Swans football academy high performance and justice manager Kara Donnellan, who applied for the grant, said it would ease pressure on volunteers to outsource sponsorship and run fundraisers.

“Being awarded this grant will enable our football club to resource new playing uniforms and equipment which haven’t been updated in three years,” she said.

“Our club is home to more than 160 female football players as well as having the highest participation rate of Indigenous players in the West Australian Women’s Football League.

“We pride ourselves on equality and inclusivity, as well as providing pathways for young female athletes to learn and develop new skills, make new friends and engage in community.”
