Swans coach Kara Antonio resigns

SWAN Districts women’s senior coach and Fremantle AFLW skipper Kara Antonio has resigned from her WAFLW coaching position.

Antonio has coached the senior team for two years, which included a run to the inaugural WAFLW grand final in 2019.

She played in four premierships in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 and captained the team on three of the occasions.

She is also a four-time Mandy McSherry medallist, winning the best and fairest award from 2013 to 2016.

In an announcement on the club’s website, president Peter Hodyl wished Antonio every success in her future.

“We wish to acknowledge Kara’s tremendous contribution to the club both on and off the field over a number of years,” she said.

“She’s worked tirelessly with our young female players helping them reach their dream to play in the AFLW.”

The club will be announcing the appointment of a new senior coach shortly.
