BAYSWATER Tennis Club has completed its funding bid for a proposed $1.4 million clubhouse with demolition works expected to commence in June.

At last month’s committee meeting, Bayswater council passed an officer recommendation for $450,000 to be allocated in the 2017-18 budget for the new clubhouse.

The $450,000 allocation is in addition to the Federal Government’s $750,000 commitment to the project in 2016, the City’s previous allocation of $150,000 reserve funding and a $50,000 contribution from the club’s own funds.

Bayswater Tennis Club president Dan Kerrigan said the club had secured all the funding required for its new clubhouse.

“Fundamentally, the funding process is pretty much complete but there are obviously other things that we are working on now,” he said.

“There are still adjustments with the plans; we are hopeful that demolition works will start in June or July.”
