Ultimate Ice Hockey Championship: Northern Stars out to claim cleansweep

Denise S. CahillEastern Reporter

THE Northern Stars won the Ultimate Ice Hockey Championship in two games but the Southern Suns will be out to settle any scores in the third game this Saturday.

The Stars won the first match at Cockburn Ice Arena with impressive performances from defender Daniel Goransson who scored two goals and an assist and goaltender Dan Wilkinson.

A 5-0 win in the second game at Xtreme Ice Arena, Mirrabooka on Saturday secured the series for the Stars, who put their rivals on the back foot at the start of the second game.

Another solid performance from Stars goalie Wilkinson, this time in the form of a shutout, put pressure on the Suns offence, who were finding it hard to set up in their offensive zone.
