Jessica NicoEastern Reporter

PERTH looks to have a fight on its hands heading into day 2 at Fletcher Park, as Bayswater Morley scored a handy 249 on Saturday.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, the Bears started their innings on fire, with a sensational 126-run opening partnership from Tim Smithies and Aaron Todd.

The pair belted the ball to all parts of the ground before Aaron Todd was removed after scoring 77 from 95, with eight fours and one six coming from his brilliant knock.

A small 31-run partnership between captain Mitchell Todd and Robert Guy pushed the total to 191, before Perth’s bowlers started to assert themselves upon the match.

At 4-191, Perth took the Bears’ next five wickets for a lowly 57 runs, before captain Mitchell Todd decided to declare at 9-249.
