UNIVERSITY have upset third-placed Bayswater-Morley by three runs after a stunning bowling display on day 2 at Hillcrest Reserve.
The Bears began day 2 on Saturday at 0-5 attempting to chase down University’s 214 runs, with Rhys Hampson and Aaron Todd at the crease.
But it did not take long for University to strike.
Josh Dallimore took opener Todd for seven before Tim Smithies entered the crease and swung the match back in the Bears’ favour.
Smithies and Hampson produced a solid 55-run partnership before the latter was dismissed for 19.
However, Smithies was undeterred, as he found a new partner in Mitchell Todd, with the pair blasting an 89-run stand and pushing Bayswater-Morley towards victory.
After Smithies was run out following his brilliant knock of 105, the Bears suffered a serious middle-to-late order collapse, losing its final six wickets for 54 runs and ending the day on 211, handing University a three-run victory.
