Wheelcats revenge last year’s final loss

Having lost last year’s grand final to the Hawks the Wheelcats were seeking revenge, which they got defeating them 80-62 on Saturday and 96-49 on Sunday at the Herb Graham Recreation Centre.

With NWBL titles in a row throughout 2006-10, the Perth Wheelcats are hoping to go one better than last year’s result, and with a good start they are looking to add to their already impressive trophy cabinet.

Co-captains Shaun Norris and Justin Eveson played their part in the wins, with Norris top-scoring with 14 points in game one and 24 in game two while Eveson scored 22 in game two.

Other top scores for the Wheelcats were Robert Pike with 17 and Brad Ness with 16, while for the Roller Hawks Brett Stibners scored 31 points, Andrew Tarrant 13 and Nick Taylor 12.

In game two top scorers for the Wheelcats also included Robert Pike on 14 while for the Roller Hawks Brett Stibners again top scored for his side with 12, Andrew Tarrant scored seven and Nick Taylor scored five.

After their great start to the season, the Perth Wheelcats now head up the NWBL ladder ahead of the RSL Queensland Spinning Bullets on percentage.

Their next game is away against the Adelaide Thunder on Friday, June 28.
