The event “Verdi’s Table” on Wednesday November 21, will this year celebrate the music and regional cuisine of the Emilia-Romagna region – which was the birth place of one of Opera’s greatest Maestros, Giuseppe Verdi.

It will feature a five course meal showcasing the gastronomical highlights of the region while being treated to a number of Verdi Arias performed by West Australian Opera’s Katja Webb and Tommaso Polio.

La Sosta owner and head chef Matteo Musetti who hails from the neighbouring region of La Spezia, arrived in Fremantle seven years ago and started La Sosta a year later.

The father-of-four said having previously worked with West Australian Opera, he was looking forward to another special collaboration, which incorporated the authentic elements of Italian culture from food, art, history, tradition, language and music.

“I love to do events, it’s a great opportunity to create a different dining experience and I like the idea of doing something special for a special night,” he said.

“I have enjoyed collaborating with The Consulate and West Australian Opera and creating something different.

“The event is about celebrating the cuisine and music of the Emilia-Romagna region and guests will enjoy real, traditional, authentic Italian food and a lot of these dishes we have never done before at La Sosta.”

Paired with matching wines Musetti encouraged people to not only come along to try dishes including the Tortelli al Ragu Bolognese, a typical, rustic dish of the region and the dessert dish of Torta di Riso but to immerse themselves in the culture of the night.
