NOT-FOR-PROFIT group Artzplace Inc will put its members up in lights again when its latest exhibition is held at the Memorial Hall later this month.

The group’s exhibition will feature an eclectic mix of work put together by 22 artists.

Artzplace chairwoman Eunice Mitussis said the 14th exhibition was set to be one of its best yet.

“There will be realistic landscapes for those who love pictures of places, decorative flowers, abstract and semi-abstract works, delicate drawing and photos to enchant,” she said.

“The exhibition provides an opportunity for people to view quality, original artwork by local artists in a first class gallery.”

The annual exhibition was first held in 2006 and has continued to flourish over that time.

Artzplace was formed in the same year as a way to create a meeting place and exhibition opportunities for emerging and established artists.

The group has been well supported by the council, with art continually on the way up in Cockburn.

In May a group of art enthusiasts that has met for more than a decade held its first exhibition.

Cockburn Art Group secretary Frances Myshell said members were inspired to hold its first show because they felt their work was finally good enough.

Just up the road from that exhibition, 58 Cockburn artists took part in Show Off 11.

Topping off a busy period will be the Artsplace Exhibition, which runs 10am to 4pm daily from June 20 to June 28.

Entry is a gold coin donation, with money going to charity.
