Catch Lucky by the Ocean on Wednesday nights

Staff WriterFremantle Gazette

PERTH music lovers will have the chance to catch guitar legend Lucky Oceans at a stunning oceanside venue in the lead-up to Christmas.

Oceans will play a series of Wednesday night sundowners at the Kidogo Arthouse at Bathers Beach, Fremantle.

Fresh from the release of his stunning album of Hank Williams’ songs, Purple Sky, featuring collaborations with such Australian music luminaries as Paul Kelly, Tex Perkins and Kasey Chambers, Oceans said the venue was a special place to play.

“(Last year) the concerts attracted a real ‘listening’ crowd, that revelled in the combination of the explosive performances, the antiquity of the building, the incredible acoustics, the art on the gallery walls, and the proximity to the ocean,” Oceans said.

“It’s on-the-edge musical programming on the edge of the Indian Ocean.”

The genre-hopping concerts will feature Perth musicians such as Fiona Rea and Lachlan Gear of Paper Moon, Dave Brewer, Bill Rogers, Ric Eastman and Lauralee Faith.

The gigs will run each Wednesday from November 13 until December 18, with a special Hawaiian sundowner on Friday December 20.
