It will be the fourth album released by Jenny Gaunt, a musical specialist at Success Primary School, and Ashlea Reale.

The Casuarina pair’s latest effort stays true to form, with their Australian accents and vocal harmonies put front and centre, supported by an assortment of acoustic instruments.

Gaunt said they had continued their storytelling style of song-writing, with the duo linking current issues with Australian history.

The album’s first release, Federation Song, uses humour to tell of the state’s reluctance to become part of the nation.

A second song, God Only Knows, speaks of the bride ships that arrived early in Australia’s European history, comparing those new arrivals with people seeking asylum today.

“We drove across Australia to the Illawarra Folk Festival and there were a few performers using the style,” Gaunt said. “We came back, looked into WA’s history, characters and the interesting stories we could tell.”

The album will launch with an intimate show at Murdoch University’s Rockingham Campus on September 26.
