Ferreting for laughs

However locals would be forgiven for feeling a bit apprehensive when they first set eyes on Leeroy Hart walking up and down the streets carrying around an empty cage.

The slapstick comedy that ensues as he looks to catch his famous performing ferret Trevor was even enough to have renowned comedian Billy Connolly laughing his socks off at a recent Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Hart said gone were the days of tall unicycles and fire juggling being the norm in street performing.

“This particular walkabout character I developed while working with Circus Oz; a quiet, timid little character with a problem,” he said.
