My Christmas: Mitch Marsh, Australian Test cricketer

Lucy RutherfordFremantle Gazette

CHRISTMAS is one of the few days of the year when the Marsh family does not play sport.

“I think it is the one day that is cricket free for the family,” cricketer Mitch Marsh said.

“It’s just plenty of food and spending the arvo in a food coma.”

Marsh said some of his favourite memories of the holiday season were centred around the Boxing Day Test match.

“As a kid, I remember the best Christmases were in Melbourne, in and around the Aussie change rooms when Dad was coaching,” he said.

“I don’t like receiving gifts but the greatest gift I’ve received was Rod Marsh calling just before Christmas to tell me I’d playing in the Boxing Day Test in 2015.”

Marsh said the family would travel to Melbourne this Christmas to watch older brother Shaun represent Australia in the Boxing Day Test.

He was selected in the Australian XI for today’s Third Test at the WACA Ground.
