ADULTS watch out, children will be out in force when the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) puts on two fun child-friendly performances at the Fremantle Town Hall next week.
The 15-musician Cushion Concert is aimed at children aged eight and under and brings interactivity and fun to classical music with performances of well-known nursery rhymes and movie themes, combining them with story telling, dancing, clapping and singing.
WASO education co-ordinator Fiona Taylor said the concerts were always well received.
“It’s a fun and entertaining way to get young children interested in and excited about classical music by getting them involved with sing-a-longs and have-a-go sessions,” she said.
“Our wonderful presenter and sensational musicians love working alongside the 15 musicians to share the magic of orchestral music with young children.
“Kids get an opportunity to learn about and try out different instruments, some of which they may have never seen or heard of before.”
At the end of the concerts, children get a chance to play some child-sized instruments. WASO’s Cushion Concert is on October 7 at 9.45am and 11.15am. Tickets are $16 from www.waso.com.au.
