Parents encouraged to reach out for support

Emma Clayton, Melville TimesFremantle Gazette

Families in the Melville, Cockburn and Fremantle areas can access the services at Meerilinga Children and Family Centre in Cockburn, which include home visits and consultations with parenting experts.

Parenting support service co-ordinator Natasha Hughes said the program helped families deal with the day-to-day challenges of parenting, as well as linking families to appropriate resources in their local community.

‘It’s very important that parents are supported in their parenting role so that they can continue to provide the best they can for their children and so that our children can grow up to be contributing members of society,’ she said.

‘The service is especially important to link families up to the local community as there are a lot of new families in the area who would like support but just don’t know where to go’
