Held underneath Many 6160, Success and its four separate gallery spaces will provide a smorgasbord of arts, kicking off with the likes of a Perth International Arts Festival exhibition in gallery one and a curated performance with a night of live music in gallery four.
Success program manager Guy Louden said the four simultaneous exhibitions would be run across almost 3000sq m of space.
“The huge basement of the old Myer building in Fremantle was vacant but it took us a few years to work up the courage, and the experience, to tackle it because Success is a massive project,” he said.
“Success is the size of a serious institution, with multiple galleries and a huge open space perfect for presenting unusual artwork.
“It should allow us to show really interesting art on a spectacular scale.
“I think people will see some pretty unusual art they would unlikely see anywhere else in Perth and our gallery’s independence allows us the flexibility to curate shows that perhaps other large spaces wouldn’t, or couldn’t.”
Success opens February 20 in the basement of Many 6160.
