Lockwood, an award- winning painter, will have two pieces on show – a watercolour and an abstract acrylic. “The watercolour is of Perth from the foreshore looking back to the city,” she said.

“I made it into an almost misty scene fading out at the edges, something new for me that I wanted to try.

“The second one is called Low Tide and is meant to represent pools of water, sand and rocks from an aerial perspective.

“My aim was to do an abstract, but at the same time something that people could look at and understand what it represented.”

As far as exhibiting goes, Lockwood is quite an experienced campaigner.

But, as someone who works full-time in a different field, she said she still loved the opportunity to surround herself with like-minded people.

“As I work full-time as well, I don’t do enough to get my work out there, so exhibitions are great for that reason,” she said.

“It is exciting to see all the work come together and get to view the various styles and there are some very talented artists among our group.”

The exhibition opens at Atwell Gallery today at 7.30pm and runs until Monday, June 6.

Atwell Gallery is on the corner of Canning Highway and North Lake Road.
