Bryce LuffFremantle Gazette

NEW art reflecting the history of North Coogee has been unveiled at LandCorp’s Shoreline development.

The sculpture was inspired by the 10th Light Horsemen who trained in the area before leaving for WWI action overseas.

It consists of a horse and rider fabricated from stainless steel.

The recycled material it was made from also reflects the industrial history of the site.

The piece was created by Woodvale artist Robin Yakinthou over six months.

“It was like making a three dimensional jigsaw puzzle from scratch,” he said.

“It was a real challenge.

“I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it.”

Cockburn RSL’s Arthur Stanton said it was a fantastic contribution to our armed services.

He hoped it would spark conversation around the sacrifices made.
