BIBRA LAKE theme park Adventure World has launched a $7 million waterslide.
On Friday the public got its first shot at the Kraken, a tailored design from Canadian manufacturer ProSlide.
The ride places thrill-seekers on a four-person raft to negotiate 150m of dark bends and turns, an 8m drop into a funnel and an outrun into the landing pool.
The ride is 260m long and riders can reach speeds of up to 6.7m a second.
Adventure World chief executive Mark Shaw said the ride would be an exciting addition to its regular favourites and the hugely popular Abyss rollercoaster, a $12 million attraction launched in November 2013.
“The raft means riders can have a slightly different experience on each ride as one time you may go down forwards, another time sideways or backwards,” he said.
“All our rides and slides need to be shared experiences for all of the family or a bunch of friends.
“We’ll not only have the best roller coaster in Australia, but I truly believe this new funnel waterslide will be recognised by many as the best waterslide experience in Australia.”
