The app uses QR codes to allow visitors to find out more about Fremantle’s heritage sites.

Project co-ordinator Roel Loopers said people scanned the QR code on the buildings with their smart phone and the app would take them to the relevant article about the building.

‘It enables tourists to do unguided tours of the city in their own time,’ he said. ‘Over time the articles will come up in the language the smart phone is set on so that, for example, Japanese visitors will read the historic information in their own language.
