Art auction funds to help homeless people

Now in its fifth year, the Help the Homeless Art Auction will raise money for the Freo Street Doctor, The Sisters’ Place and the Fremantle Multicultural Centre, all of which provided services and help for those living through homelessness.

As well as artwork from Podstolski, the auction will also include a rare signed Pablo Picasso lithograph and a Mark Chagall lithograph will be raffled off.

Curator Lyn DiCiero said the event had raised more than $70,000 since 2010.

‘Apart from carefully selected artworks, people are truly amazed by the performance of the Starlight Hotel Choir which is a highlight of the night for many,’ she said.

‘There is something incredibly special about the goodwill that fills the room on the night, it’s a palpable bubble of common purpose and drive to help the homeless.’

The Help the Homeless Art Auction will be held from 5.30pm on June 14 with auction registrations opening at 3.30pm.

The artwork is open for viewing from 3pm to 5pm on June 13 and noon to 5pm on June 14.
