Mr Denaro is currently completing his showcase piece Biomimic, a sculpture from his solo exhibition which coincides with the beach-side event. ‘I am trying to put an object on the beach which is experimental,’ he said.
‘I have always believed that this is important for this event, as the crafting of objects can often obscure the artistic values and I think the public deserve to see artists being artistic.’
Mr Denaro said he didn’t expect people to understand his piece.
‘The theory really doesn’t matter too much and few people ever ask about the theory,’ he said. ‘It is just a sculpture, a visual delight and I hope that the public might see it as being experimental.’
Mr Denaro’s solo exhibition will show at Linton and Kay Galleries in Perth from March 11-25.
