Artists join forces to help the homeless

Held at the Fremantle Town Hall, artists like Pippin Drysdale, Jo Darvall, Robyn Varpins, Tim Macfarlane and Olivia Samec are hoping to beat last year's total of $75,000 for the Freo Street Doctor, The Sisters Place and The Fremantle Multicultural Centre.

Curator Lyn DiCiero said the Soroptimist International Fremantle-run auction had grown since 2010.

"In the first year, we sold under $20,000 in artworks and the auction was held at a smaller venue at Notre Dame University, but since then the City of Fremantle has donated the use of the Town Hall, and our sales last year exceeded $75,000," she said.

"I think we have the right balance of emerging, established and collectible works ranging in price from $50 to $7000.
