Atwell woman honoured for 25 years of cub scout service

AN Atwell woman has been recognised for her community service.

Jacqueline Sutherland has devoted 25 years to the Willagee-Kardinya Scout Group where she works directly with young children as a cub scout leader.

Ms Sutherland was awarded the Silver Koala by Scouts Australia in 2013 for her leadership qualities.

She also spends time as an adult helper with Willagee-Kardinya’s Joeys Mob, where she works with six to seven year olds.

Ms Sutherland was among a group of 37 volunteers highlighted for their efforts during the recent WA Volunteer Service Awards.

Seniors and Volunteering Minister Tony Simpson thanked all volunteers for their efforts.

“By providing their time and resources, volunteers help deliver services, products and opportunities that otherwise might have been more expensive or not provided at all,” he said.
