Author’s runaway success

Whoa Flamingo has optioned the film and television rights for Ms Banyard's books Mystery at Riddle Gully and Riddle Gully Runaway.

The books follow reporter Pollo di Nozi on her adventures with sidekick Shorn Connery and best friend Will.

Ms Banyard said it would be "magical" to see her books on the screen.

"Im rapt; it's the sort of thing people josh about, your books being made into movies," she said.

"Just quietly, Im thinking Cate Blanchett for Pollo."

Ms Banyard published the books through Fremantle Press, and chief executive Jane Fraser said Whoa Flamingo had an impressive track record developing local content for young audiences.

"We were impressed by their desire to work with authors to bring their works to the big screen," she said.
