PATRONS can now enjoy a drink on the beach after Bathers Beach House was granted Australia’s first alfresco beach dining liquor licence.

Restaurant co-owner Anthony Unmack said patrons would now be able to relax on a sun lounge on the sand while enjoying their meal and a drink.

“While Bathers Beach House has been the only absolute beachfront restaurant, bar and function space in Perth since we opened two years ago, we are now the first place in Australia licensed to extend our food and beverage service to the beach sand,” he said.

“You can experience this in Europe and Asia and this move now brings us up to par with what is almost expected of an international destination.

“The beach lounges will provide a range of options, whether it’s a casual meal from our beach menu, sunset drinks, sunset dinners or an ideal location for a unique function.”

Mr Unmack said the area was fully serviced, with orders delivered to the lounges, and hoped it would bring national and international attention to Fremantle.

“Think about the long-term effect this might have on tourism for Fremantle; photos of people wining and dining on the beach, particularly given the global nature of social media, will show off the area as a major attraction,” he said.
