Mr De’Laney became a peer support volunteer with the service after the death of his first baby.

“People often do have support but they want to talk to someone who has been through what they have,” he said.

“I have been through that and can understand how they’re feeling.

“It’s not something you get over but you learn to integrate it as you move forward.”

People will have the chance to donate when the Sunshine Beach Run is held at City Beach on February 21.

The run was founded by West Coast Eagles physiotherapist Chris Perkin after the deaths of his son and wife in 2009.

All money raised from the event will go towards supporting SIDS and Kids programs.

Beeliar resident Belinda Goosen, her husband Nick and their two children will take part and said the event was a great way to support a worthy cause.

“Our goal is to take part and support families,” she said.
