Bibra Lake flash fire may have been caused by bolt cutters on live wires

Bryce LuffFremantle Gazette

A FLASH FIRE in Bibra Lake this morning could have been caused when bolt cutters hit live electrical wires.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services, police and Western Power were called to Howson Way about 9.30am this morning.

Authorities believe a person using bolt cutters to remove high voltage cable from the rear of a power substation hit live wires.

“As a result the bolt cutters have become welded to the power box and a flash fire has been caused,” a police spokeswoman said.
