THE Big Issue released their 500th issue last week, and roped in two big Fremantle sports stars to help them celebrate.

Fremantle Dockers Michael Barlow and Lee Spurr joined regular The Big Issue vendors hitting the streets of Fremantle on Tuesday to hand out copies of the 500th issue, which corresponded with the annual Christmas edition.

The Big Issue WA state manager Andrew Joske said they were honoured to be named a friend of the Fremantle Dockers Foundation.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to have the club get behind our organisation and this campaign to raise awareness of The Big Issue magazine and the homeless and disadvantaged people who sell it,” he said.

“Our Christmas edition is always a special one, featuring a Big Issue seller on the cover and Christmas messages from sellers .

“Having well-known personalities sell during this time means we can make noise around the magazine and sellers, driving sales and giving sellers extra income in the lead-up to Christmas.”
