Transport Minister Dean Nalder said $186,000 would be put towards upgrading the North Lake Road and Berrigan Drive junction.

As part of the work, the left turning pockets on the west approach on North Lake Road and the northern approach on Berrigan Drive will be extended. Street lighting will also be improved.

The left turn lane on North Lake Road will be extended by 100m and the Berrigan Drive left turn lane by 60m.

The city's engineering and works director Charles Sullivan said lighting at the intersection would be brought up to current Australian standards.
