Hilton Harvest Community Garden volunteer in running for Bethanie Medallion

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

The Hilton Harvest Community Garden’s Sasha Wray was one of three finalists named in the Bethanie Individual Volunteer Medallion category for her work with the intergenerational gardening group Buds n Blooms.

Ms Wray said the role had allowed her to reach out to elders living in the community, both at home or in a residential care facility.

“For many elders it’s a social event but they are also stimulated by the sensory experience of the garden and start to reminisce about the past,” she said.

“Buds n Blooms has been one of those projects that just seemed to take a life of its own and I have had a lot of support in making it happen.
