The Support Association for Women in Afghanistan works to provide a better life for women in that country and together with a number of locals will be holding the second Bowling for Afghanistan SAWA Cup.
A SAWA representative said women in Afghanistan were subjected to forced marriages, physical or psychological violence and low education.
The event would help to not only raise awareness of the issue but also funds to work towards improving the situation.
The fundraiser will include a bowls competition, as well as several raffles and an afternoon tea, with the aim of beating last year’s total of $840.
