Call to act on hoon riders

Stephen Sewell is worried a child may soon get hit by a hoon rider.

Stephen Sewell has lived in the suburb for 12 years but believes now, if it was not before, is the time to take action.

The final straw was little more than a week ago when bike riders tore up his front yard. His neighbours were not spared either.

‘I’ve complained on a number of occasions but nothing’s been done. It’s all fallen on deaf ears,’ he said.

Mr Sewell said the generally quiet street roared with motorcycles on the weekend when riders took advantage of parklands and the freight line to cut through the centre of the suburb.

He was worried a child may soon get hit.

‘We want to get the police in before something happens,’ he said.

‘It will be too late when someone is ploughed down.’

A spokeswoman for Murdoch police said they were investigating a couple of reports in relation to lawn damage by motorcycle riders.

‘Murdoch police are working closely with the local council and rangers regarding this,’ she said.

Anyone with information is asked to report it to the police.
