Candidates left out of pocket as expensive campaign signs are stolen

Liberal candidate for Cockburn, Don Barrett, and Labor candidate for Jandakot, Klara Andric, had 40 signs stolen last week.

‘The people that are doing these things don’t realise how much it costs to make these signs and that a large percentage of it comes from our own back pocket,’ Mr Barrett said.

‘Sure, we receive a bit of support from our parties but for local campaigning, as in campaigning for Cockburn, that comes from me.’

Ms Andric said she had 10 signs stolen in an ‘Atwell blitz’.

‘It’s disappointing because a lot of money and effort goes into them,’ she said.
