Centre to mark a special event

Another big event in the year was the opening of the Fremantle Arts Centre, now celebrating its 40th anniversary with a two-day event this weekend.

During the time everyday visitors, artists, musicians, students and children are invited to bring in their artwork, photographs, creations and recordings that feature the centre at some point in its history, with the submissions to be considered for an exhibition on this history, titled Mad About You: 40 Years of Fremantle Arts Centre.

Centre director Jim Cathcart said it was essential to take stock and to reflect on what had been achieved.

‘FAC has a long, proud record of showing and supporting emerging and important WA artists and in recent years engaging more with the national and international arts scene,’ he said.

The call-out for memories of FAC is from 10am to 5pm on March 23 and 24.
