Chance to help make winter warmer for those in need

Warm clothing and blankets are the big-ticket items the relief group is looking to stock up on ahead of the upcoming chill.

Red Cross shops general manager Kate Dear said forgotten blankets and woollen clothing could be given a new lease of life by being donated.

‘Our shops play a vital role in providing warm, fashionable and affordable clothing during winter, but to keep our stores well stocked we rely on the generosity of the public,’ she said.

WA area manager Billy-Jo Richards said stores in Hamilton Hill and Willagee tended to be full of items useful in winter, but there were items the stores were continually short of.

‘Items used in the kitchen sell really well, so we’re looking for donations all year round,’ she said. ‘Kitchenware is the second best seller behind women’s clothing.’
