Changes planned to town centre parking

Bryce LuffFremantle Gazette

Among alterations up for consideration is the introduction of restrictions to parking on the east side of Fettler Lane and a two-hour parking limit to the west side of Points Way during working hours Monday to Friday.

Engineering and works director Charles Sullivan said the changes were being considered to ensure all parking signs were enforced correctly and to introduce parking for uses requested by the community, including a loading zone and motor-cycle parking.

Mr Sullivan said the changes were also being considered to restrict on-street parking to keep streets clear.

He said the changes were necessary to ensure traffic was managed in the growing hub, and to ensure the short-term parking needs of the Town Centre were met.

"The City has been considering these changes for some months as part of ongoing observation of parking in the City and consideration of officer and community feedback," he said.

"The City's actions reflect the dynamic nature of on-street parking controls and how they need to be monitored over time, and sometimes changed to reflect changing demands."

The City has invited the public to comment on the proposed changes, with the consultation period closing this Friday.
