Checkout charity an inspirational act

That was the reality facing Kaye Southern when she went to pay for a few items at Lakes Shopping Centre in South Lake earlier this month.

Fortunately she managed to dig out cash she sometimes keeps in her purse for such an emergency, but not before a random stranger offered to pick up the bill.

‘She said if I didn’t have the money she would make up the difference,’ Mrs Southern said.

‘She waited near the checkout. Once she saw I was OK, she took off. I was stunned as it was an unexpected offer from a complete stranger.’

Mrs Southern, a Rotary Club member, never got to thank the would-be helper.

‘When I looked around to say thanks for her kind offer, I couldn’t find her. It shouldn’t go unthanked. I believe in paying it forward so, in her honour, I will offer my help to someone else when the opportunity arises.’
