City of Cockburn to close Lamar Ct access from Russell Rd

Bryce LuffFremantle Gazette

ACCESS to Lamar Court from Russell Road will be closed on August 26.

The street, which is only about 70m long, will be turned into a cul-de-sac.

City of Cockburn requested the closure as part of the Western Australian Planning Commission’s development approval for the new Aubin Grove train station and Russell Road upgrades.

Cockburn’s engineering and works director Charles Sullivan said Lamar Court was planned as a temporary connection to Russell Road when the local structure plan for the area was adopted in 2004.

“It was planned that the road would be modified to be a cul-de-sac when the train station car park was constructed and linked to Russell Road, which will happen as part of the road works component of the Aubin Grove Rail station Project,” he said.

Mr Sullivan said motorist movements between the southern section of Success and Russell Road would occur on existing roads including Hammond Road and Brushfoot Boulevard.
