Despite trouble getting a pop-up bar on High Street off the ground while the renovations were being done, Clancy’s Fish Pub management were excited to be able to reopen the Cantonment Street premises last Monday, three weeks ahead of schedule.

The pub is almost unrecognisable, with a new roof, ceiling, plumbing, floors, kitchen, toilet, bar and even a refurbished outdoor eating area with heating giving the local favourite a new air.

However general manager Justin Rogan said despite all the new bells and whistles, there was still the same staff, great food and drinks and service.

‘It was tough being closed for seven weeks and our regulars missed us and our staff had to find employment elsewhere, but we didn’t lose anyone,’ he said.

‘The builders were top notch and finished three weeks ahead of schedule.

‘The new Clancy’s is more of everything we love about the pub, bigger brighter and more comfortable.’
